Ingredients Notes
These notes are here to help make this recipe a success; they cover some but not all ingredients. For a complete ingredient list, with quantities, check out the recipe card below.
Salt: I like to have the salt mixed in so that this is a one stop seasoning, but feel free to leave it out and add salt separately to your food as you cook.
Cayenne pepper: This adds a hint of heat to the mix, which we love. But feel free to leave it out if your family doesn't enjoy heat or you are serving young children who may not tolerate the pepper.

Ways to use Garlic and Herb Seasoning
I use around 1-2 teaspoons of seasoning per portion of food. But feel free to add more or less to suit your family's tastes.
- Mix the garlic herb seasoning with olive oil as a marinade for chicken, pork, beef or fish.
- Use it as a seasoning for your roasted or steamed veg. Mix it with butter or oil and drizzle it over.
- Stir it into your mashed potatoes when you add the butter.
- Mix it with softened butter and use it to make an easy garlic bread or garlic herb texan toast.
- Mix the seasoning blend with sour cream for a quick and easy dip.
- Add it to melted butter or olive oil and toss your pasta in it.

Why Is This Recipe Special?
- It is easy to mix up and have on hand whenever you need a flavor boost.
- You can add it to so many different meats, fish and vegetables.
- You are in control of the salt and spice levels.
- It is cheaper to make than store-bought pre-mixed blends, and you know what is in this.
- You can use it as a nice housewarming or hostess gift. Store it in a little jar and add a cute label.

Recipe Adaptations
These are just suggestions and things that have worked in my test kitchen for my family, but it is your dinner, so adapt it to suit your family. That is the beauty of cooking; we can all create our own delicious meals.
- Add extra Spice: Add some red pepper flakes or more cayenne pepper to your mix to add a kick to your seasoning. Or, for a different type of heat, add white pepper to the mix.
- Add extra Herbs: Add herbs like marjoram, chives, tarragon to the mix.
- Add extra Flavors: Ground coriander will add a wonderful earthy note to your seasoning, while ground fennel adds an Italian edge to it.
How to store your Garlic and Herb Seasoning
Keep the seasoning in an airtight container in your pantry or store cupboard. Check your herbs' expiration dates before adding them to the blend. They will dictate how long you can keep your Garlic and Herb seasoning. For example, if your dried parsley has 10 months left, the blend will have a 10 month shelf life.
