These Mozzarella, Basil, Sundried Tomato and Olive Skewers are a delicious Mediterranean inspired appetizer recipe. Like a mini caprese salad on a stick! They are beautiful, and easy to assemble, making them the perfect finger food for parties.

Mini mozzarella wrapped in basil leaf skewered with a sundried tomato and olive half, on a rustic white platter.

    What are caprese skewers?

Caprese salad is an Italian salad of tomato, mozzarella and basil, dressed with extra virgin olive oil and seasoned with salt and black pepper. It is amazingly simple and amazing delicious.

Placing the ingredients onto a skewer turns the salad into a great appetizer or finger food idea.

These Mozzarella, Basil, Sundried Tomato and Olive Skewers aren't a true caprese salad on a stick. As they use sun-dried tomatoes. I find that sun-dried tomatoes pack a big punch making these little skewers a great party dish. Plus they are available all year round meaning you can make these caprese skewers in the depths of winter when tomatoes are rock hard and lacking flavor.

The olive is also an addition, but I think it adds a nice salty note to the skewers. Meaning you don't need to season them. Which is good as salt can make basil leaves turn black.

    How to make caprese skewers

These are such a simple finger food.

Each element is skewered onto a toothpick and then drizzled with a little oil.

You will need basil leaves, baby mozzarella balls, sun-dried tomatoes and black olives.

Then it is just a case threading them onto tooth picks. Caprese toothpicks!!!! 😉 😉

Plus being on a toothpick means they are super easy to eat so it is a great way to serve caprese for a crowd.

I have made something similar in the past but sun-dried tomatoes take it to a whole new level! I am all over your little Caprese skewers.

        Thank you Helene.
I love the salty hit that the sun-dried tomatoes and the olives give to the cheese 😀
