Tomato Risoni Salad (Tomato Orzo Salad)

This Tomato Risoni Salad (Tomato Orzo Salad) is a super simple salad that is packed with flavour and works as a side or a main meal. You can add extra veg, meat, cheese what ever you fancy to this salad. It is delicious and perfect for summer or winter!

  • cups orzo pasta (risoni)
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes
  • Salt
  • black pepper
  • Small handful fresh parsley - chopped
  • Small handful fresh basil - chopped


  • Bring a large pan of water to a boil.
  • Once you have a rolling boil salt it well (at least 1 tbsp of salt) and add the pasta.
  • Stir and then cook as per the packet instructions. (Check it 2 minutes before the packet suggests I find it cooks quickly!)
  • Drain the pasta.
  • Dress immediately with the extra virgin olive oil.
  • Then mix through the onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.
  • Grate/crush over the garlic.
  • Stir well and set aside, covered to cool slightly.
  • Chop the cherry tomatoes in half (or quarters if they are big)
  • Stir the tomatoes and chopped herbs through the pasta.
  • Taste and adjust your seasoning.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate until needed.
  • Just remember to remove it from the fridge a little before you want to serve it as it is best served at room temperature.
