    Using Leftovers

In Australia alone we waste over 4,000,000 tonnes of food each year!!! That is food we are just throwing away! To see more facts about food wastage, check out this infographic from Helpling.

I think we can change that, I don't believe that the average person wants to waste food. We work hard to buy that food. People have worked hard growing the food and what is more we are wasting resources producing more food and ways to dispose of food.

And that isn't even thinking about the fact that there are people starving in the world, which reminds me of that clip from Dirty Dancing!

Marjorie Houseman: Look at all this leftover food. Are there still starving children in Europe?
Frances "Baby" Houseman: Try Southeast Asia, Ma.
    Marjorie Houseman: Right.
Jake Houseman: Robbie, Baby wants to send her leftover pot roast to Southeast Asia, so anything you don't finish, you wrap up. Max, our Baby's going to change the world.

Maybe Baby would have gone on to change the world? Not through sending pot roast to Asia, but by making people aware of what we have and how lucky we are.

I really believe that we should be eating great food, making the most of what we have and throwing out as little as possible. So I have created this page dedicated to ‘Leftovers’. Looking at cooking meals specifically for leftovers and then using them in different ways. Ways to save the food we are wasting and repurposing it for meals later in the week, or freezing it ready for another time.
