Strawberry and Rosemary Gin Fizz

Strawberry sweetened gin, mixed with slightly sparkling moscato and a hint of rosemary. This Strawberry and Rosemary Gin Fizz was made for Friday afternoons, sat in the garden, watching the sun set. Add in a bit of finger food and you have the perfect start to the weekend.

If you follow me on Facebook you will know that Friday afternoon, once I have picked the boys up from school, done the afternoon chores and made some pizza dough, I like to sit in the garden and enjoy a glass of something cold and usually alcoholic. 😳
I usually share a sunset photo of my Friday tipple. Often that is a gin and tonic (with pink grapefruit slice) or a glass of white wine. But sometimes it is great to sit back and enjoy a cocktail.

We had friends over last Friday so I wasn’t sat in the garden relaxing at 5pm. I was running about the house, trying to work out how my floor could look so filthy even after I had swept it! Boys and white tiles do not mix!!!! I want a nice brown floor when we move home!!!!! Which FYI should be within the month…..HAPPY DANCE!!!! Actually I won’t have a brown floor then, just bare concrete, which I am hoping also won’t show the dirt. But I can tell you once the (brown) wood goes down I will be a happy chick!

Anyway, I didn’t share my Gin Fizz with you last Friday, so I am sharing today instead, ready for you to sip over the weekend. Get the strawberries and gin (or vodka) macerating tonight. Go on you know you want to 😉

What is the weather doing where you are? Here in WA we are meant to see 38ºC (100F) again. So this cocktail is perfect for serving over plenty ice.  If you are more in the mood for curling up by a fire and drinking something a little warming then, you might want to try my Whisky Apple Twist.

I am very excited to share these photos with you, they sum up why I love our little part of Australia! How beautiful does the lake look!!!!!

Have a great weekend x

Prep Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200 g strawberries
  • 2 tsp caster sugar
  • 2 springs of rosemary
  • 200 ml gin or vodka
  • Ice
  • 500 ml moscato - See notes
  • 4 strawberries (for garnish)
  • 4 small springs of rosemary (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Carefully hull the straberries and then cut them in half.
  2. Place the strawberries and rosemary into a plastic tupperware container, sprinkle over the sugar and then pour over the gin/vodka.
  3. Clip on a lid and place the container in the fridge for 24 hours.
  4. Strain the gin/vodka and then pour into a large jug of ice.
  5. Top up with the moscato and then serve garnished with a strawberry and a sprig of rosemary.

Recipe Notes

I like to use moscato as it gives a great additional sweetness. However if you are a fan of a drier cocktail then you can use prosecco.

For a cocktail lighter in alcohol, replace the wine with lemonade or soda water
