‘Home Duties’ The first time I saw that on a form, I was amused. It isn’t a term I had heard before, or one I would have thought of to describe my ‘job’ but I think it is a perfect term, as it is what I do. So I happily tick that box. I know I am lucky, I get to stay at home with my children. I carry out the jobs that go to make up ‘home duties’. I don’t like doing them all and some leave me frustrated, some I do more regularly than others (or never 😳 ) and some I decide can wait for another day. A pile of clean washing in the basket waiting to be put away isn’t going to cause our house to fall into chaos. But leaving a 3 year old to his own devices whilst I put it away will lead to mayhem. I know! As, before now, I have had to hoover up a whole pot of edible glitter!!!!
I fear I am starting to digress from my original plan for this post. The School Holidays…..
For the next two weeks home duties means looking after both of my little men. The house is going to get messy(er), the washing is going to back up and the dishwasher will never get emptied. (I know Stew will read this and say “What is new? 😉 ) But that is my plan, well I haven’t planned for the housework to go by the wayside but I have accepted it will happen, because really does it matter? The boys and I have dates at the park, we have some craft activities pinned, we have butter biscuits to bake and windy beaches to run on.
Stew bought me this mug for Christmas. I think it was tongue in cheek 😉 but it is my holiday mantra.
Work Less. Play More. Enjoy Life
Right now though, the boys are just finishing morning tea (apple and cinnamon cake, banana slices and carrot sticks) so I am going back to build a Lego racing car.
