Well it is Sunday afternoon again, the weekend is almost over and it is time for me to curl up on the sofa, grab a notepad and plan next weeks meals. Not sure what we are having yet, but I am sure there will be dumplings in there (still obsessed!) and some lamb. Do you do a weekly meal plan? Or do you cook and plan as you go? I am a bit out of sync this week as I forgot I wouldn't be cooking on Friday night and then by the time I arrived home on Saturday I didn't have time to make the slow cooked lamb.
I mentioned on my Facebook page that Stew and I were off out in Perth. The boys were home with their grandparents and Stew and I enjoyed a very rare night out. I must add that Stew took the night off his low carb diet so we could enjoy our night out to the full. What a sweetie 🙂
Before I share our dinner I have to share my pictures from the morning after....backwards I know, but having already teased you with a photo of this baby, I had to get this donut explained! We had brunch with friends which included this salted caramel donut from Mary Street Bakery in Mount Lawley. Oh My Goodness!!! Yum! Sadly we only ordered two as I had foolishly agreed to share one with Stew. That was a mistake! He cut it perfectly down the middle, but I was left wondering if it was bad manners to lick the paper bag!
We shared a donut!? Yes, because I had aready wolfed down a delicious brunch. Tequila cured salmon, slow cooked eggs, avocado, chilli and a lime crème fraîche. Topped with plenty of fresh coriander and mint. Oh and some sour dough toast soldiers. It was amazing!
Stew had crispy fried chicken and buttermilk pancakes with a chilli maple syrup. It looked delicious but I cannot tell you if it tasted delicious as he didn't share a single bite! I did taste the chilli maple syrup as he 'kindly' transferred his coriander to my plate. He is not a fan of coriander as a salad.
So back to Friday night.....and a confession! We decided on a little Italian restaurant that had been recommended to us, by a friend, he lives around the corner and eats out all the time. It was a great recommendation, the food was wonderful. So wonderful that when my bowl of fettuccine with prawns and zucchini arrived, I dug straight in 😳 Stew demolished half of his gnocchi arrabbiata and then I remembered that I should get a photo! Doh! So here is a slightly bright, half eaten picture of our dinner on Friday night. I'm so good at this picture taking thing 😉 (Actually I didn't even have my phone with me, so Stew snapped this one)
If you are ever near Cafféitalia then I totally recommend it. It is bustling, vibrant, the service was outstanding and the food was scrumptious. It was like being in Italy, in a tiny restaurant off the main strip, eating the best Italian food you have ever eaten. Which given I am an Italian food addict is saying something. Fettuccine with prawns and zucchini - THE best pasta dish I have ever eaten!
Continuing on with the amateur photos. I took this photo whilst we were pulling into our driveway because I needed to remember this little face. Mr 7 was actually crying with laughter. He has started re-reading the Harry Potter books, he finished them last year, but he has started them again. Whilst reading out loud on the drive home he must have tried to read this paragraph 10 times. For some reason it tickled him and he was crying as he finally got the words out.
"He's got lots o' rats an' some brandy fer the journey," said Hagrid in a muffled voice. "An' I've packed his teddy bear in case he gets lonely." From inside the crate came ripping noises that sounded to Harry as though the teddy bear was having his head torn off.
I mentioned Mr 4 was having a P party and dressing up as something beginning with P. He didn't want to be a pirate, or a policeman, or a prince. He wanted to be a panda! So on Thursday when the temperature was a nice warm 28 degrees Mr 4 went to school in a fur hat!
My week in pictures wouldn't be complete without a snap shot or two of the wonderful area that we live. I love our beaches, even though the weather is cooling down and we are needing a blanket at night, the beach is still beautiful and a walk there on a Monday morning can't be beaten.
And lastly just to counter balance the paradise style photo above. This is what greeted me inside the mail box on that same Monday morning!
Do you need another beach shot to get that spider out of your mind?
Have a great Sunday x
